The Armor of God

Spiritual Warfare and the Armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-20)

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
(Eph 6:10–11).

Put-On-Truth320We See 2 Instructions…
1. Be strong in the Lord…
2. Put on the Full Armor of God…

Our Battle is a Spiritual Battle & Satan is Our Spiritual Enemy
But Without the Armor of God we’ve lost already
Our strength must be from the Lord…

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Phil 4:13

Wisdom in Trials

How do you handle Trials? (James 1:1-8)

Viktor Frankl survived the NAZI concentration camps of WW2 and described the effects it had on himself and the prisoners he suffered with. He discovered that between a trial and your response to that trial there is a space – and in that space is your ability to choose your attitude in any circumstance.

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—
to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances.” – Viktor Frankl

It is in this space, between a trial and your response to it, that James says we must have wisdom. For James tells us that…

To Overcome Trials We Must Have Wisdom in Trials

  • Wisdom to See Through Trials,
  • Wisdom to Learn From Trials,
  • Wisdom to Turn to God in Trials
  • and Grow Stronger From Trials

“When we are no longer able to change a situation,
we are challenged to change ourselves.” – Viktor Frankl

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18

The Indestructable Word of God

God’s Written Revelation is God Breathed and Indestructible (1 Peter 1:24-25)

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” Mt 24:35 NIV

having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, 24 because

“All flesh is as grass,
And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass.
The grass withers,
And its flower falls away,
6But theword of the Lord endures forever.”
Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.” (1 Peter 1:23-25 NKJ)

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16 ESV

Our New Identity In Christ

Who are you? So often we define our identity in the things of the world, such as our job, or interests or our social status. But what happens when these are taken from us?

Jesus Came to Give us a New Life…

2 Cor 5:17 “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;
old things have passed away – and all things have become new.”

For the Christian we have been given a new life and new identity in Christ.

Who You Are In Christ…

1. YOU ARE SONS OF GOD (Gal 3:26-27)

2. YOU ARE HEIRS OF GOD (Romans 8:17)

3. YOU ARE CHILDREN OF GOD (1 Jn 3:1)

4. YOU ARE A TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (1 Cor. 6:19)

5. YOU ARE A SAINT (2 Corinthians 1:2)

6. YOUR CITIZENSHIP IS IN HEAVEN (Philippians 3:20)

7. YOU ARE A NEW CREATION (2 Corinthians 5:17)

If you have been baptized into Christ, you have a new life in Christ,
adopted into the family of God with an inheritance in Christ.

(Gal. 3:26-29) “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

(Gal. 4:6) “And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” 7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”

The Faith of Moses

Developing a Life Transforming Faith (Hebrews 11:23-29)

Developing a Life Transforming Faith (Hebrews 11:23-29)

  1. Have You Ever Thought that Your Life Didn’t Turn Out the Way You Thought It Would?
    • That Maybe You Would’ve Been Further Ahead…
    • Or Would’ve Achieved More…
    • We’ve Probably All Thought This at some point in our life…
    • I Can’t Help But wonder if Moses, at some point, may have thought that…

2.  Moses Life seems to Unfold in Pretty Unexpected Ways…

  • First 40 Years in Egypt in the Palace of the Pharaoh
  • Moses fled to become a shepherd for 40 years in the land of Midian
  • Then God called Moses at age of 80 to lead Israel Out of Egypt where he spent 40 years in the wilderness…
  • One Thing We See in the Life of Moses – is that Great Faith Transforms Lives…

“Faith enables the believing soul to treat the future as present and the invisible as seen.”
– J. Oswald Sanders
