The second in a series JESUS: The Name Above Every Name studying the names and titles of Jesus in order to know Him better. It was an angel who told Joseph, “…you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).

The Origin of Jesus Name is in Hebrew, which is: Yeshua, a shortened version of the name ‘Joshua’ who was a great hero of faith. Joshua’s name in Hebrew meant: “Jehovah is Salvation.” Jesus’ Hebrew name is a compound word which means “Yahweh Saves”, which is no surprise because this was the mission Jesus came to accomplish. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
